Romania Tourism News – Ceausescu Tourist Trail

Romania's Tourism Minister, Elena Udrea has confirmed that she is now working on a 'red circuit' that will follow the traces of communism and dictatorship in the country. The Romania Tourism chiefs are planning to offer visitors the chance to follow in the footsteps of former communist dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu. This 'red circuit' tour will include the tourism sights of Ceausescu's native village of Scornicesti and the Doftana prison where he served two years for 'subversive activities' between 1936 and 1938. The tourism sights will also include the balcony of the Communist Party headquarters where Ceausescu delivered his last speech on December 21, 1989, before being ousted from power, and the military barracks in Targoviste where he was executed with his wife Elena on December 25, 1989.

Poland Economy, which is less reliant on exports as compared to its other East European counterparts like Hungary, Czech Republic and Romania, may not suffer as much due to the downshift of exports. Albeit with the German economy slowing down in the second quarter and it being the largest trading partner of Poland, the slowdown will drag the Poland Economy in the coming quarters.
The average wages in July this year saw a moderate growth rate of 3.2%, giving a steady growth figure to the Poland Economy. But the current stock exchange and currency fall has got the Finance minister stating that, the Poland Economy is prepared for a crisis situation with an open credit line of $30 billion from IMF.
The Poland Economy may get an additional boost since Aircraft producing giant Boeing is eyeing potential sites in Poland to build a factory, to produce aircraft components.

The town of Vidin, located in northwest Bulgaria, will be marketed as a a top destination for Bulgaria tourism at an upcoming travel forum. The municipality will present the opportunities it has to offer in the areas of cultural, historical and natural tourism under the motto "Treasures of the Northwest". There will be over 90 guides from Bulgaria and representatives of travel companies from across the country in attendance at the forum. Local hoteliers and restauranteurs will also be on hand to present the local cuisine and folklore. Current brochures, maps and guides prepared by the Tourist Information Centre in Vidin will be distributed to guests.

The Regional Historical Museum in Vidin, along with local folklore song and dance ensembles and community centers have all contributed to promote the destination at the forum, in hopes of drawing more tourism to the region.
